Voprazan®

Potassium-competitive acid blocker

What is Voprazan?

Voprazan® contains vonoprazan, an active pharmaceutical ingredient belonging to a newer class of gastric acid-suppressing agents known as potassium-competitive acid blockers (P-CABs). This medication is used for the treatment of erosive esophagitis, relief of heartburn associated with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection.

Generic Name: Vonoprazan

Dosage Forms: 10 mg and 20 mg film-coated tablets

Voprazan

Voprazan® contains vonoprazan, an active pharmaceutical ingredient that suppresses gastric acid secretion through potassium-competitive inhibition of the gastric proton pump. It is indicated for the acute and maintenance treatment of erosive esophagitis, relief of heartburn associated with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and, in combination with antibiotics, the treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection.

Compared with proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), Voprazan® provides a faster onset of action and more sustained suppression of gastric acid secretion. Vonoprazan achieves its full therapeutic effect from the first day of treatment, often after a single dose. It may be particularly beneficial for patients with severe or recurrent gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) who continue to experience symptoms despite treatment with PPIs. Another advantage of Voprazan® is its flexibility of administration, as it can be taken with or without food, offering greater convenience and facilitating treatment adherence.
